VACCINATION RESTRICTION CHANGES - AFFECTING PLACEMENT IN RESTRICTED VULNERABLE FACILITIES
In order to keep Queenslanders safe, the Queensland Government has introduced new vaccination requirements that require all students on placement in restricted vulnerable facilities (hospitals, residential aged care, disability accommodation services, or correctional centres) within Impacted Areas to be fully vaccinated.
Being fully vaccinated means having both doses of either Pfizer or AstraZeneca. You are not considered to be vaccinated if you have only had a single dose. Also, students who cannot be vaccinated due to a contraindication will not be permitted to enter the vulnerable facility while it is restricted.
FOR STUDENTS IN SOUTH EAST QUEENSLAND
For clarity, Impacted Areas are as follows:
- Brisbane City Council
- Moreton Bay Regional Council
- Ipswich City Council
- Logan City Council
- Redland City Council
- Sunshine Coast Regional Council
- Gold Coast City Council
- Noosa Shire Council
- Somerset Regional Council
- Lockyer Valley Regional Council
- Scenic Rim Regional Council
From 8.00pm Wednesday 7 July 2021 all students who are on a placement within the Impacted Areas (as above) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before they can enter a restricted vulnerable facility. This measure applies, at this stage, until 6.00pm Friday 23 July 2021.
IMPORTANT: Queensland Health has advised that students who have been in a local government area subject to restrictions in the preceding 14 days (from actual or proposed entry to a restricted facility) will not be able to enter any facility in Queensland without being fully vaccinated. This means if you are not fully vaccinated, we may not be able to start your vocational placement again until 6 August 2021 at the earliest, subject to restrictions easing.
FOR STUDENTS IN NORTH QUEENSLAND
If you have previously been in a previously Impacted Area (Townsville including Magnetic Island or Palm Island) in the preceding 14 days you will need to wait until your placement can recommence. This means if you are not fully vaccinated, we may not be able to start your vocational placement again until 30 July 2021 at the earliest, subject to restrictions easing.
If your vaccination status changes during this time you may enable you to recommence your placement earlier.
ALL STUDENTS PLEASE COMPLETE THE FORM
Please complete the form advising your vaccination status. Where you indicate:
- You are not vaccinated we will pause your placement
- You are obtaining your second dose of vaccine within this period, we will contact you to discuss pause and recommencement of placement
- You are vaccinated, your placement will continue with proof of vaccination
- You prefer not to disclose, your placement will be paused
