BRIDGE THE GAP TO A DIGITAL OR CYBER SECURITY CAREER

Increasing demand for cyber and digital roles has resulted in the design of a bridging program as a pathway for the sector's internal talent pipeline. The IT Essentials program is a great first step for staff interested in a range of digital career pathways.

In partnership with TAFE Queensland, the Queensland Government Cyber Security Unit is delivering this program which offers a cost-effective option for staff to refresh or upskill over fourteen (14) weeks and enter into the future cohorts of the nationally accredited Certificate IV in Cyber Security (22603VIC).

This program offers students:
  • hands-on learning experiences with an emphasis on practical learning experiences to help staff develop fundamental skills for IT.
  • focus on the practical application of skills and procedures needed for hardware and software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Key areas of learning for students include:
  • develop a working knowledge of how computers operate, computer assembly and the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • developing skills needed to communicate within an ICT business environment and to interact effectively with customers.
  • knowledge of mobile device hardware and software configurations, plus diagnostics and common security threats and vulnerabilities.
