BRIDGE THE GAP TO A DIGITAL OR CYBER SECURITY CAREER


Increasing demand for cyber and digital roles has instigated the design of a bridging program as a pathway for the sector's internal talent pipeline. By combining CISCO IT Essentials and the IT Essentials program is a great first step for staff interested in a range of digital career pathways.

In partnership with TAFE Queensland, the Queensland Government Cyber Security Unit within the Department of Communities, Housing and Digital Economy are supporting the pilot of this short program which offers a cost-effective option for staff to refresh or upskill over twelve (12) weeks and enter into the 2023 cohort of the nationally accredited Certificate IV in Cyber Security (22334VIC).

This program offers students:
  • hands-on learning experiences with an emphasis on practical learning experiences to help staff develop fundamental skills for IT.
  • focus on the practical application of skills and procedures needed for hardware and software installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting.
Key areas of learning for students include:
  • development a working knowledge of how computers operate, computer assembly and the ability to troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
  • developing skills needed to communicate within an ICT business environment and to interact effectively with customers.
  • knowledge of mobile device hardware and software configurations, plus diagnostics and common security threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Week 8 - Chapter 10 - Windows Installation, Chapter 11 - Windows Configuration
  • Week 9 - Chapter 12 - Mobile, Linux and macOS Operating Systems
  • Week 10 - Chapter 13 - Security
  • Week 11 - Chapter 14 - The IT Professional (Chapter 10-14 Practice Exam)
  • Week 12 - (Chapter 10-14 Final Exam, Optional A+ Practice Exams)
Students can obtain a certificate from CISCO Netacad by completing all chapter exams (minimum result of 70%) and the Final Theory exam (minimum result of 70%).
